Minor actor
Hearth Newt
A blind newt of the wet mine workings that clings to walls and ceilings, drawn to warmth and light beneath a faintly visible hearthsalt crust.
Character
Lives on damp walls and roof fissures in the wet workings and chamber approach, where seepage and warmth meet. It belongs neither in the dry upper drift nor behind the deep-hearth door.
A faint glow from the crust and falling drips telegraph its position before it drops from above toward the player's light. Once on the ground it is slow; the encounter rhythm is reading overhead, choosing an angle and responding to the change of height, with no moveset established.
The crust on its back is hearthsalt mineral, so its faint cerulean is permitted by the mine's colour rule. The animal's skin does not borrow the blue reserved for mineral and lit lamps.
